Cathedral is a site specific work realized for Boundaries at Man, Nuoro. The intervention has been planned for one of the most crowded squares of the town, a terrible example of urban architecture, where decay and abandon converge. The work has been realized aiming to a social retrain for the place. A carpet has been spread out following the shape of the cement seatline, architectural element pre-existing to the intervention, so to produce a drawing that resemble an apse, the red surface develops itself to cover the centre of the square. For some days the red carpet has been the fulcrum of the square life, but above all a creative centre for the children to play, - they took possession of it - until it natural destruction that the intervention had inevitably to face.

CATHEDRAL è un lavoro site specific realizzato in occasione di CONFINI al MAN di Nuoro. L’intervento è stato progettato per una delle piazze più frequentate della città, terribile esempio di architettura urbana, in cui convergono degrado e abbandono. L’opera è stata realizzata pensando alla possibile riorganizzazione sociale del luogo. Una moquettes è stata stesa seguendo il motivo della seduta in cemento, elemento architettonico preesistente all’intervento, in maniera da produrre un disegno in pianta che ricorda un abside, la superficie rossa si sviluppa in modo da coprire il centro della piazza. Per alcuni giorni il tappeto rosso è stato fulcro della vita che normalmente ospita il luogo, ma è stato soprattutto centro creativo dei giochi dei bambini, che se ne sono idealmente appropriati, fino alla “naturale” distruzione a cui l’intervento andava inevitabilmente incontro.
