The little modified outboard engine is put up high on a wall in the entrance of the Gallery of Contemporary Art of Monfalcone. The working engine produces the typical sound of the nautical means. The work investigates the roots of the place and of the Museum itself and of how Fincantieri has weighted on the mobility of the all zone. Monfalcone was born thanks to the yard. To hear the same sound in the background, its boring repetitiousness, can remind of the “place”, the distinctive features of a social tissue that lives with a cumbersome presence, that is necessary, essential. The strong and powerful presence of the nautical industry in Monfalcone is the dirty work that has produced and produces culture….

Il piccolo motore fuoribordo modificato, è fissato alto in una parete all’ingresso della Galleria d’Arte Contemporanea di Monfalcone. Il motore acceso produce il suono tipico dei mezzi nautici. L’opera indaga le radici del luogo e del Museo stesso e di quanto la Fincantieri abbia pesato sulla “mobilità” di tutta la zona. Monfalcone è nata grazie al cantiere. Ascoltare lo stesso suono di sottofondo, la noiosa ripetitività, può ricordare un “luogo”, i tratti distintivi di un tessuto sociale che vive a contatto con una presenza ingombrante, ma necessaria indispensabile. La presenza forte e poderosa dell’industria nautica a Monfalcone è “lavoro sporco” che ha prodotto e che produce cultura….
